Ariel and Karen

Category: Videos, Weddings

August 23rd 2008
The Blue Leaf

This is the coming together of two of the most beautiful people we know, our good friends Ariel and Karen.

You just can’t help but admire this couple the more time you spend around them. And from the reactions of their relatives and friends during the small but very intimate ceremony, I can confidently say that we are not alone in saying this.

We will always remember their wedding as one of the most touching we’ve ever witnessed. The two, simply put, made a habit of crying whenever they grab hold of the microphone. And the same can be said about their guests, because they too shed a tear or two listening to the heartwarming stories Ariel and Karen shared with everyone. And quite honestly, we’ve never seen so many people crying under one roof, which plainly proved how loved the couple is.

We sure found pleasure covering weddings with these two (and their team) organizing, but this one’s totally different, it’s one experience we’ll always treasure. ;)

Marlon and Coleen

Coleen is a very good friend of ours and perhaps the most independent person I’ve ever known. She’s been to different places all over the world (on her own) you’d think that getting married is not on her vocabulary (and all the people I know who went to Germany and the UK to study DNAs have yet to marry, so I was really surprised). But maybe, it’s because she “really” met Marlon.

You see, Coleen and Marlon’s parents have been friends since the two were just toddlers. Dinner outs, vacations, the works. One thing Coleen didn’t know was that Marlon had this long, standing crush on her since they were kids, which she only discovered when both families eventually moved to Manitoba in Canada. And Coleen, I think, discovered more than that about Marlon.

Marlon is a very nice and funny guy, and as Gladys, our office manager and Col’s MOH, pointed out during her speech, Marlon is the guy version of Coleen, therefore, a perfect match .

Paolo and Nina

This is probably one of the easiest on-site edit we’ve ever done. Why? Well, Paolo and Nina chose the music. Then, they uttered the words the music they chose clearly needed. They, the couple, their relatives and friends, then provided all the drama without them even trying. In short, all we have to do is string everything together and make an emotionally charged wedding video to be viewed by an emotionally charged couple and their emotionally charged guests. Easy!

Paolo was visibly nervous during preps and ceremony. He barely talked. Nina, on the other hand, is one funny girl. She made the whole preparation felt like we were in a comedy joint. But she took a 180 degree turn once the ceremony started. That’s when tears started flowing freely which lasted all the way up to the reception. It was a great shoot made easier by the presence of supplier friends David, Queen and the whole Just Like Ours team who coordinated the entire event, Cherry Pacheco-Uy who beautified Nina, Alex and Rosanne Franco for the cake and Missy who hosted the reception. One emotinally charged night indeed!

Chicken or beef?

That’s the joke we share with this gorgeous couple who, quite literally, have a soaring love story.

They’re Flight Attendants.

And a visit from these guys (or just one of them) would lead, without a doubt, to a very entertaining conversation. And we love each and every story they shared with us, their Middle East-Asia-Europe escapades, all the funny things they experienced while flying, even the scary ones-emergency landing and all- and of course, the chicken or beef? :)

Intended as a surprise, which I believe we pulled off based on their guests’ reactions, Buff and Pat gave us a few snapshots of their parents’ wedding which we stirred in with the footages we took. And it clearly showed the “evolution” of a wedding’s “first kiss”.

“EDIT” - Monitor

Category: Videos, Wala Lang

A product of boredom aimed squarely at entertaining … ourselves!
Yep, 2008 is way different from the usual Augusts we’ve been accustomed to in the past years, in fact, we’ll be covering more weddings in August this year compared to what we had in 2006 and 2007 of the same month combined. But still, the month started kinda slow for us and we, the entire team, got a little bit bored. Thus, the birth of “Monitor”.

The inspiration actually came from “Camera Cafe”, a French-born concept of comedy television series exported around the world and brought here by QTV and directed by Mark Meily. I fell in love with the very simple concept and been dreaming of doing one (not for public consumption, initially) ever since. But the biggest inspiration, or should I say challenge, came from our team’s personality in general, which can be best described as reclusive and reserved.

If we can, we’ll be doing this on a monthly basis, not because we want to be famous (but i know some of us do) or because we want to be the next Moymoy Palaboy. We will be doing this mainly because we needed to have a short break every once in a while, and for us, the best way is to make fun of ourselves. And there’s just no other way around it.

This is “Monitor”, our desperate interpretation of comedy.

Enjoy!

AI Saturday Part 2 - Ian and Bonita

Category: Videos, Weddings

Nah, you won’t be hearing “Umbrella” by Rihanna here, you see, we called this AI Saturday for a reason. Yesterday’s post featured this year’s American Idol big winner David Cook’s song as chosen by Jon and Jen, this time Ian and Bonita picked a song from the show’s second season runner-up, Clay Aiken.

Simply put, the couple, their rituals (tequila shot anyone?) and a little help from Master Dino Brocka’s new found passion to cinematography and directing provided all the necessary ingredients to make this vid work. And boy did it work, as proven by the guests resounding appreciation during and after this clip shown.

So, we give you Ian and Bonita, the second of our two-part AI Saturday special.

Watch out for “Monitor” - starts tomorrow. ;)

AI Saturday Part 1 - Jon and Jen

Category: Videos, Weddings

It’s no secret that we are now capable of shooting two weddings in one day, a business decision four years in the making. We love taking risks, but only calculated ones, so we didn’t rush and waited for everything to be in place. And early this year, after all the rigorous training and hard work, the pieces of the two-team puzzle came together. And we’ve been at it ever since.

Jon and Jen
August 9th 2008
Malate Church
Makati Shangri-La

We start this two-part American Idol Saturday with the wedding of a lovely couple based in Ireland. Jen is a relatively quiet person. Yes, she joked around and laughed a lot, but she definitely is the quiet type, and I don’t think anyone will dispute that. Hehe Jon, on the other hand, is a comedian trapped in a serious-looking guy’s body, which explains the thunderous cheers and jeers he got from their guests while watching this video (specifically the 2:16 and 2:27 marks). And we couldn’t agree with David Cook more as he sang his winning piece in this SDE, because this truly is the time of Jon and Jen’s lives.

Yes, the day deserve all the hooplas and what-have-yous tagged with it (Beijing’s spectacular olympic opening ceremony made sure of that), after all, it doesn’t happen everyday.

Monitor

Category: Wala Lang

People deal with stress in many diferent ways. Some will go for a Himalayan Tsangpo Ritual at Chi, The Spa, but we, on the other hand, prefer dismantling an ancient CRT monitor and turn it into a “set”. Another good option is the Tacsiyapo wall, but we’d rather memorize lines and aim at a one-taker. Well, I guess that’s just us, a unique mixture of lunatics brave enough to call ourselves videographers and editors. ;)
